YOUR SOURCE FOR AUTHENTIC LAO/THAI SAUCES

The Expedition

Hongthong Vinaithong’s passion for cooking started when she was a young teen, helping to prepare meals along side her mother, later perfecting the art of her country’s authentic Laos cuisine. After seeing their country was declining, she and her husband, Boun, decided to leave hoping to find a better place to raise their family. They were very fortunate to have migrated to America in 1978, settling in Fort Worth, Texas.

After several years of working and able to provide a humbling life for their family, she felt she needed to do more. She wanted the American dream of becoming a business owner. Therefore in 1984, Hongthong Oriental Food & Gifts convenience store was opened, bringing Asian produce and goods to her customers. Her store provided families like hers, traditional herbs and hard to find Asian ingredients to make their favorite recipes like back in Laos. Besides running a business, Hongthong enjoys cooking, entertaining, and sharing her amazing foods with family and friends.

A New Beginning

The opportunity came in 1998, when she decided it was time for a change, that’s when her convenience store, Hongthong Oriental Foods and Gifts became a restaurant called, Hongthong Kitchen. Hongthong Kitchen is a cozy family style restaurant where she is able to share her love for Laos traditional food with her community. People from different ethnicities began to develop a love for Laos food. Customers would dine in, carry out, or stop by to pick up pre-made entrees and sauces. Some of our popular entrees are Gaeng Normai, Larb, Mok Pa, Mok Gai, Papaya Salad, Homemade Pork Sausages, Beef Jerky, Fried Chicken, and Sticky Rice. Our Sauces are one of our best sellers for taking home, here are some of our favorites, Jeow Bong, Sukiyaki Sauce, and Papaya Sauce. These sauces are a staple in Laos and Thai cuisine, they are a great addition to any dishes or just a quick dipping sauce for sticky rice or jasmine rice.

Hongthong's Inspiration

Hongthong Kitchen has attracted customers from different ethnicities, helping to popularize Laos and Thai cuisine. Hongthong is proud to be able to share her culture and traditions through sharing her native recipes. Hongthong’s grocery store and restaurant have been serving the Dallas/Fort Worth area for over 35 years. We would love to share with people around the world a taste of Laos/Thai cuisine.
